Movement 3
Giving

The third movement shows what happens when we have established a degree of harmony within our being. We find our heart opens and we want to share. Our heart overflows and we just give, because we want to share the riches of life that we have been discovering. When we give, we find that the world gives back to us — other people, nature, God, whatever you like to call it. So the natural flow of giving and receiving begins to take place and becomes a very integral part of our lives.

The movement starts with the tips of the fingers lightly touching the spiritual heart center, located at the site of the thymus gland. To find the thymus gland, just follow the bony ridge which comes down from your throat into your chest. A little exercise you could do (separate from the PanEuRhythmy) is to tap lightly on the most pronounced bone of this ridge. You will find that this helps to wake you up and to make you more alert. This is because it is the seat of the thymus gland, and also the spiritual heart center or High Heart. (The physical heart is lower and slightly more to the left.)

As the right foot moves forward with the first beat of the music, the hands lift forward and up, while the arms and shoulders swing forward and stretch out horizontally with the palms up and pointing straight in front in a gesture of making a generous offering to someone. Then, as the left foot moves forward, the hands sweep back up and round and back down to touch the heart center again. This rhythmic, swinging movement of the arms accompanies the steady pace of the feet throughout, and produces a deep feeling of giving from the heart.
